TradingView for Nordic Stocks: A Setup Guide
TradingView is the most widely used charting platform among retail traders. For Nordic equity traders, it offers real time data for Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, and Oslo, but only if you set it up correctly. This guide covers the essentials.
Exchange codes
When adding Nordic symbols to your TradingView watchlist, use these exchange suffixes:

The suffix tells TradingView which exchange to pull data from. Without it, you may get a US listed ADR or no data at all.
Data delays and real time feeds
Free TradingView accounts receive delayed data for most Nordic exchanges. The delay varies:
- Copenhagen and Stockholm: 15 minute delay on free plans
- Helsinki and Oslo: 15 minute delay on free plans
- Real time: Requires a paid TradingView plan and, for some exchanges, an additional exchange data subscription
If you are swing trading on daily charts, a 15 minute delay does not matter. If you are day trading, you need real time data, or a platform that sources it directly.
Setting up a Nordic watchlist
Create a dedicated watchlist for each Nordic exchange or sector. Suggested lists:
- OMXC25 Core: Novo Nordisk, DSV, Ørsted, AP Moller-Maersk, Coloplast, Genmab, Vestas
- OMXS30 Core: Volvo, Atlas Copco, Sandvik, Ericsson, H&M, Investor, Swedbank
- OSEBX Energy: Equinor, Aker BP, Vår Energi
- OMXH25 Core: Nokia, UPM, Stora Enso, Kone, Neste
- Nordic Seafood: Mowi, SalMar, Lerøy, Bakkafrost
Indicators that work on Nordic names
Not every indicator translates across markets. Nordic equities tend to gap less than US names, which makes certain tools more reliable:
- Volume profile: Cleaner on Nordic large caps. Fewer algorithmic distortions.
- Moving averages: 50 and 200 SMA work well. Nordic trends tend to respect these levels.
- RSI: Standard 14 period works. Overbought above 70, oversold below 30.
- MACD: Reliable on daily charts. Less useful intraday on thinner names.
- Bollinger Bands: Standard 20,2 works on OMXC25/OMXS30. Widen to 20,2.5 on smaller names.
Layout for Nordic swing trading
A clean layout for Nordic swing trading:
- Top left: Daily chart of OMXC25 for market context
- Top right: Your primary watchlist (10 to 15 names)
- Bottom: Chart area with daily candles, 50/200 SMA, and volume
This layout takes 30 seconds to scan. You know the regime, you see your names, and you can drill into any chart that triggers.
Combining TradingView with a scanner
TradingView is excellent for confirmation and depth. It is less good at filtering a 267 stock universe down to the two names worth reviewing.
A purpose built Nordic scanner handles the morning filter: trend structure, R:R, and philosophy alignment. TradingView handles the magnification once a card appears. The two tools complement each other. Neither replaces the other.
